Bay a Red Sox, Manny a Dod...Who Cares
Final Update: Jon Heyman broke this thing, Manny to the Dodgers and Jason Bay to the Red Sox. The Pirates will get 4 minor leaguers. I assume 4 total from the Dodgers and Red Sox. Early reports suggest that it is Brandon Moss and Craig Hansen.
Initial Post: Boston Globe writer Gordon Edes is reporting that Manny has been traded but offers no details. He posted just at few minutes ago at 4:20pm. Stay tuned.
4:31pm - Update: Perhaps to the Dodgers per MLBTraderumors.com via SI's Jon Heyman.
4:32pm - Update: Now Cafardo is saying 3-team deal, Manny to Dodgers, Bay to Boston.

Best trade for the Yankees made in 2008...Ramirez to L.A. who was hitting .400+ and had 50+ HRs against my Yanks. OH and we'll see how good Ortiz REALLY is now. Here comes another 86 years of misery.

this was as much a trade about next year as this year.
Lets do some math, FAIAZ try to keep up, I'll go slow...
$20M (manny's price next year)- (that is a minus sign) $6M (Bay's price next year) means a savings of $14M to spend elsewhere and likely the same production and quite possibly some intangibles improved along the way.
Only thing you have said that is correct is we will see how Ortiz responds. My guess, he walks and scores a lot. No credit is given to Drew/Lowell/Youk and probably not to Bay.
Offense will be fine.
