According to the nice people at Amazon.com, I should have a copy of "The Yankee Years" in my hands sometime tomorrow.  I plan to start posting on it shortly after that.  I will probably break it up into multiple posts over the balance of this week. If any of you are reading it, feel free to share your thoughts as well here or shoot me an email (peter@yankeesredsox.com)

I have to say I'm interested to read about Kevin Brown. He was such a hard man to know, by all accounts, and now we can read Torre's insider account of his personality and influence on the Yankees.

For instance, why did he agree to take the ball in that fateful Game 7 in 2004, even knowing of his back problems? I still wonder about what might have been, had Orlando Hernandez been healthy that October and ready to start Game 7.

I totally agree. I still don't understand why Torre gave the ball to Brown in Game 7 after his performance in Game 3. I know his options were limited, but I would have started Vazquez and then moved to Loaiza if needed.

Who needs Orlando Hernandez, Vazquez and Loaiza when you have ghosts helping you in the post season?

Greatest comeback EVAH!
