Don't Panic
Yes, the Yankees just traded for a guy with a 6.66 ERA in AAA. But, this trade isn't about the Yankees, it is about the Scranton Yankees. Simply put, they have almost nothing left in their rotation between injuries and callups so the Yankees traded for Hirsh and sent the infamous PTBNL back to Colorado. This is about AAA depth, not big league depth.

3 consectutive starts hardly makes a season but I think these performances are exhibit A for the defense in keeping him in the rotation permanently. After 8 innings tonight, last three starts, 3-0 (hopefully), 21 2/3rds innings, 8 hits, 8 walks, 19 k's. 2 runs.

Off topic post follows:
Bruney looked like a real "thrower" tonight. WAY too amped up and up in the zone or throwing cookies right down the middle, belt high.
This is a guy that I loved (was it just) last year when he would get up there and throw nasty strikes and challenge hitters with some really good movement and location. Now? He looks like he's trying to get by on velocity alone. Sad ... and troublesome as we need him to settle down and back into a better groove.

Mitchell my friend, I could not agree more, he has the heart for pressure, but seems he is trying to do it all at once, he is his enemy right now, hopefully the veteran guys could calm him down , if we get him right with melancon for 6 and 7 inn. we are set. and of coarse aceves recoops fast. you just wanted to grab him by his jersey and say get tough and smart.

And ... I have been totally wrong about Joba and, oddly enough, I'm really happy to be wrong!
I had given up on the kid but he's now showing good stuff and, more importantly, a new found maturity and poise out on the mound. No more shaking off sign after sign, no more nibbling at the corners. In a word? Wow.
Truly hope he can keep it up. I now agree that we can't let him go, even for Doc. Nor can we let Hughes go ...
