Wang's Done

It's official, Wang is out for the year.  As the article speculates, this could also be the end for Wang as the Yankees are very likely to non-tender him at this point.

That's a discussion for another day, for now the Yankees really need to come up with a new starter.  Mitre is a time bomb.  Joba is almost out of innings. 2-1/2 days until the deadline, what is Cash up to?

Either big time player or nothing... I hear Cash wants arroyo, boy what a mistake. he will get bomb in the AL we will only lose talent in a trade for that guy..look at the other names out there, typical cashman move , i rather stay with pettite, and believe me that hurts for me to say that. If he makes a move it MUST be for a guy for the long term rotation, not the guy who winds up in the bullpen with a five plus ERA. Washburn is 35, pass, halladay too rich for us , can't sell the farm, Lee maybe. I would take Sizemore off their hands, they could dump salary, and a guy who has been a hugh failure there, but can fill the outfield hole we have now , HE CAN catch with best. Lee straight up may cost a lot of talent, maybe the giants would take swisher off our hands, but please no THE CAME BRONSON.

I agree on Arroyo I wouldn't want to see him at all.

The last info that I've read is that there was/is no Arroyo deal contemplated but that Washburn is currently being discussed. Washburn would be a good rental for the season - the issue with him is that he's a fly ball pitcher who is known, historically, for throwing home run balls.

Aceves is now owning up to being "in pain" which is why he's been shut down for a little while. He probably learned eveything he knows about being honest with his coaches from Bruney.

I agree - Cashman now has no choice to but to make a deal for some pitching this season. I would hope he takes the 'rental' route for this deal and looks for big free agents at season's end. We have quite a bit of payroll freeing up at the end of this year so a free agent would only cost us money, not high level talent or prospects.

Good line about Aceves Mitchell and I agree about the rental. Sounds like Cleveland wants Hughes and Joba for Lee, that's a no-go by me.

Lee just went to the Phillies

next option?

I didn't know about Aceves, thanks, Lee just went to the Phillies, Washburn we can have at years end and give up zero talent, is it worth giving up talent for him now?/ he is 35. I feel if we give talent to get a "true " starter we should be looking long term. then sign washburn if you like at the right price at years end. what would it take to get the kid from AZ??Haren i think? a tall price. but not like Doc. where is Cone when you need him.If we can't get a quality guy, switch gears and go to Balt and make a deal for Markakis. tough but you never know..Or tell Riccardi will take Doc. but must extend contract. well and rios, for a lot less prospect package, go to the giants and the other teams that need hitting and try to trade wells and or rios.. he may go for a house cleaning in one sweep.. three and four deals have been made before.. O.K. guys let the opinions roll.
