It's Sergio Time

Well, we all know what we have to look forward to tonight, our fourth Sergio Mitre start.  You have to give the Yankees credit for being smart enough to move Mitre's start to tonight and keeping him away from the Red Sox, but it still may create problems.  The Yankees need Mitre to pitch some innings tonight.  At least five and ideally six.  That would prevent them from draining the bullpen going into tomorrow.

I don't know if Mitre is capable of that, but at this point all we can do is hope.  Hope that Brian Cashman has another starter coming to New York soon that is.

UPDATE 2:30 Pete Abe reporting that Claggett is on his way to Toronto. (Thanks, Mitchell)  He has made some spot starts recently in Scranton, so he will provide good insurance when if Mitre gets rocked.  The question as he points out is what is the 25-man move to clear room for him?  You could DFA Ransom, which makes sense if you are going to bring Pena back soon. I don't think there is a pitcher you want to send down right now so Ransom probably will go.

UPDATE 4:05 Pete Abe reporting that Ransom has been DFA'ed.  Makes sense and I imagine we will see Pena up here very, very soon.  Pena has 5 games in center for Scranton and he has played second, third and short in the minors and bigs.

UPDATE 8:45 4-1/3 innings 8 hits and 3 runs.  Girardi yanks him after giving up a homer and a single, sandwiched around an out, in the fifth.  The Yankees have to come up with a new idea here.  I say let Aceves go as long as he can tonight and then get him into the rotation next time around.

I think we're going to have to look inside for our number 5 guy Peter. When I think about the process of clearing waivers all the way through, I don't hold out much hope for us being able to acquire anyone on waivers. Too many other teams looking for the same thing.

If Sergio continues his struggles tonight, I hope they leave him out there to "take one for the team" - we need a rested pen for our upcoming homestand. I would really enjoy being pleasantly surprised tonight with the guy though.

I enjoyed the Rays game last night. Why they pitched to Longoria is a mystery, but hey, it happened in extras, just like we drew up on the board. ;-)

Peter, how about this, mitre starts, have robertson , melancon.bruney, at the ready in the first break down of mitre, instead of ,"the Torre, Girardi six seven runs " before we get the starter out, these guys are not coming in when games are close, if we are prepared for that design maybe we can have shot, or call up mcallister or smidth from AA, thats a tough call, but maybe better than just taking a beating for every fifth game..if we could keep it close for 7 inns. with those guys we have a shot. opinions please. Imagine if we gave the farm for halladay and he gave up 3 HRs and five runs, boy would their be havoc, today.. some of the best moves are the ones not made.. peter ,how about sizemore? his defense is great, and i think he would be great at the stadium..he should pass waivers????damon misplayed and was not in a no double defense last night, what were the coaches thinking, should have been caught and no runs charged to hughes,
