Should I Ever Go To A Playoff Game Again?

Short of actually seeing the Yankees win the World Series in person, I can't think of a better playoff game to attend than tonight's.  The crowd was wild, the drama amazing and the ending epic.  My heart rate just dropped below 100 again and I think I might get my voice back by Sunday, but here are a few things I saw.

1- I think everyone can stop the crap about A-Rod and choking now.   That home run was as big as it gets.

2- Glad to see Mark Teixeira get over the hump as well.  He was looking a little tight before the 11th innings

3- Molina and AJ is a combo we should see again and again.

4- Umpiring in the playoffs is awful.  Mauer was robbed in the 11th and the umps originally gave the Twins a run on that play where Swisher threw the guy out at second.

5- Carl Pavano trying to stop the Yankees from sweeping on Sunday.  It will be fascinating to see which side karma comes down on.

More tomorrow, for now enjoy this one.

I have no doubt that the Yankees would have overcome the run stolen from the Twins in the 11th, but when do "professional" sports get it right with regards to umpires/referees?

If players are making tens of millions of dollars per year how about the powers that be put an incentive scale for umpires and referees? Give them a nice base pay, arrange a system where their calls and non-calls are reviewed and pay them bonus for not blowing calls. Every blown call hurts somehow.

Missing an obvious call 10' in front of you, when you are there for that one purpose only is reason to take him off the field for the next game. Have a sub. He loses pay and ability to do higher paying playoff games for a period of time.

I haven't seen the official word from MLB yet, I'm sure things like shadows and the player got in the way...blah blah blah. Could have , may have changed the outcome. Period.

Peter? Think of it this way - you saw a great game and your presence was key to their winning the game. (just keep repeating that and pretty soon you will beleive it) So ... of course you have to go again! (LOL)

Great great game !!!

Mitchell- I am going to send a letter with that logic to Hal and see if it gets me some tickets....

BL- I agree and since boundary calls that could result in a home run are reviewable why not make all boundary callas reviewable?

Friday was my first playoff game. All I can say is wow!!!! After Robertson got out of the 11th, you just knew that there was no way we were going to lose that game. Pretty funny on the Tex HR, everybody stood up and yelled, then got quiet trying to figure out if it was out or not, then the place went wild!!!! High Fives all the way around.

give the managers a red flag

Peter - if Hal sends you more than one, the second one is mine.

A red flag flying out of the dugout? Great image and a really good idea! Have to limit the number of flags you can throw per game you can throw - with an extra flag for extra innings.

limit the number of flags you can throw per game you can throw ... hmmm, I think I'm repeating myself.

... hmmm, I think I'm repeating myself.

Mitchell- You are on, let's hope for two down low.
